Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Advertising Design

  • Course description
The Advertising Design  curriculum  gives you the skills to develop your personal voice and communicate an idea verbally and visually. Advertising Design classes are complemented by Liberal Arts classes that give you a broad perspective to understand the cultural, psychological, and historical trends that influence advertising.

You’ll acquire a firm foundation in the skills you need to create, plan, and execute advertising campaigns. Classes in design principles, advertising design and layout are supplemented with classes in concept development and copywriting. The program offers extensive opportunities to develop your presentation skills and a professional-level portfolio.

In the fall of your senior year, you’ll research an advertising topic, develop a thesis, and establish criteria for advertising campaigns that you’ll create the following semester. You’ll select a brand and develop campaign concepts and designs for:
    • traditional media (print and television)
    • interactive media
    • innovative media (guerrilla marketing)

Senior design projects are displayed in The Museum at FIT in the Art and Design Graduating Student Exhibition and viewed by industry professionals.
