  • Objectives
Our faculty of advertising professionals prepares you to become a successful art director (and maybe even a copywriter) in an advertising agency. Projects are the same kind you'll experience in the real world. You'll research, analyze and identify marketing opportunities and strategies. Then you'll use your own unique creativity to produce persuasive advertising.
  • Course description
At the College for Creative Studies, first-year students can enter their chosen department and concentrate their studies in one area or spend their first semester "undeclared" and take an orientation class to learn about the eleven studio majors. While students are immersed in their chosen area of study immediately upon entering CCS, they are also encouraged to take classes outside of their major to broaden their skills.

Each department emphasizes four distinct components of a visual arts education: technical skill, aesthetic sensibility, conceptual ability, and practical experience, combining studio and academic classes with more individualized instruction. Upper-level students have the opportunity to begin working independently in private and semiprivate studio settings. Internships give students an opportunity to work side-by-side with art and design professionals.

Faculty and visiting professionals coach you to use your creativity, vision and sense of humor to create dynamic work and presentations.
Most importantly, you'll have a killer portfolio. That's what gets you the job – and a paycheck.
