Entry requirements
* To compete successfully for admissions, you should have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater. GRE scores are required, but no minimum is currently specified. An appropriate bachelor's degree in biomedical, chemical, electrical, mechanical, or metallurgical engineering or in the materials science and engineering or other related discipline is required.
* A minimum TOEFL score of 560 (on the paper-bases test) or 220 (on the computer based test) is required for international students form countries where English is not an official language.
* Applicants with an advanced undergraduate standing, predoctoral award, Master's of Engineering (ME), Master's of Science (MS), Medical Doctor (MD) or equivalent will be eligible to apply directly to the doctoral program. Under these circumstances, a maximum of 24 credits of graduate coursework can be applied toward the doctoral program, unless additional credits are allowed by the director and approved by the Dean of Gradate Education.
