  • Course description
    This interdisciplinary major is focused on biology and the physical sciences, and incorporates a significant amount of mathematics. The major is research-oriented and is designed to prepare students for graduate studies, medical schools, or careers in biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry. For further information, consult with the molecular biology faculty, Professors Armstrong, Edwalds-Gilbert, Tang, or Wiley.

     2.  Chemistry 14-15. Basic Principles of Chemistry, or
           Chemistry 29. Accelerated General Chemistry
     3.  Mathematics 31. Calculus II
     4.  Biology 143. Genetics
     5.  Chemistry 116-117. Organic Chemistry
     6.  Biology 173. Molecular Biology Seminar with Lab
     7.   Physics 33-34. General Physics (recommended), or
           Physics 30-31. Principles of Physics

              * Biology 157. Cell Biology
              * Biology 170. Molecular Biology
              * Biology 177. Biochemistry
              * Chemistry 121. Principles of Physical Chemistry
              * One additional elective lab course selected in consultation with the faculty advisor
              * Two-semester thesis with lab: Biology 188L-190L. Senior Research-Senior Experimental Thesis in Biology; Biology 188L may not be counted as an advanced elective course
