Alfred University economics majors study economic problems, theories, and policies within the context of the liberal arts educational tradition. Economics majors are encouraged to take advantage of the various minors in business administration subjects open to Liberal Arts and Sciences students.
Two major options are offered:
* General Option - stresses the breadth and depth of economic thought
* Business Option - focuses on the professional applications of economics. The Business Option also provides most prerequisite courses for graduate MBA programs.
Study in economics can lead to careers in both the private and public sectors. Alfred graduates work in management, banking, and law, in government, and as teachers. The economics major provides an excellent foundation for graduate study in law, public policy, foreign affairs, and business. Learn more about career opportunities for economics majors >>>
