  • Course description
HTIC offers an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree program with a major in Liberal Arts. The Liberal Arts Program introduces students to various fields of knowledge, including the arts and humanities, languages, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics, and places a strong emphasis on learning and communication skills. The intent of the Liberal Arts Program is to foster in students a broad intellectual understanding of the individual and society, the natural environment, issues in the arts and humanities, and self-awareness. Those who have been accepted to the Liberal Arts Program are Classified Liberal Arts students.

HTIC provides a general liberal arts education without major fields of emphasis for the A.A. degree, but students may select from three degree requirement options based upon their goals:

    1.The General Education Plan:

This degree requirement plan is for students who are interested in the American Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree as their final educational goal. These students are interested in pursuing technical studies or employment after graduation.

    2.The American University Plan:

This degree requirement plan is recommended for students who are interested in earning a baccalaureate degree (B.A. or B.S. degree) from an American college or university after graduation from HTIC.

HTIC graduates have transferred to and completed their baccalaureate degrees from universities across the United States including: University of Hawaii, University of Oregon, University of Arizona, University of San Francisco, University of Wisconsin, California State University (Chico, Fullerton, Long Beach, and Sonoma campuses), and Central Michigan University. HTIC has articulation agreements with many U.S. colleges to allow for smooth transfer and the College provides guidance to students wishing to transfer and earn a baccalaureate degree from virtually any university in the United States.

    3.The Tokai University Plan:

This degree requirement plan is recommended for students who are interested in earning a baccalaureate degree from a Tokai University Educational System college or university, but who wish to start their program of study at HTIC and transfer after graduation. This plan is open to all students with Japanese language fluency.
