Course descriptionAt K-9 Companions we offer a Certified dog trainer Course and Certification (C.T.) as well as a Certified Master dog Trainer Certification (C.M.T.). The Certified Dog Trainer Course (for those who want to become a dog trainer) is 240 hrs long and requires hands on training with the staff in all areas of dog training from Kennel Technician through 3 levels of dog obedience and 3 levels of protection with an overview of detection work. In addition, the student will get to work with approximately 150 dogs during this period of time. Studies for trainer include book work, tests, and discussions about all areas of dog behavior, psychology, temperament testing, and more.
We offer Dog Trainer course over a 90 day period with the possible extension of an additional 90 days for those with difficult schedules.
To become a Certified Master Trainer (C.M.T.) the dog trainer must complete the book work, tests, and hours, for the Certified Trainer (C.T.) course, plus have 1 year worth of practical experience working with actual dogs and clients under the supervision of K-9 Companions (professional dog trainer). This is not a paid course rather is an extension of this course or employment with K-9 Companion.
