  • Course description
    The Practical Nursing program offers the students a Certificate of Completion in Practical Nursing and eligibility to take the State Board Examination leading to licensing as a Practical Nurse in Utah.

    PRE-NURSING REQUIREMENTS
    Prerequisite General Education requirements include:

    BIOL 2060 Microbiology with lab (BIOL 2065)
    BIOL 2420 Human Physiology with lab (BIOL 2425)
    BIOL 2320 Human Anatomy with lab (BIOL 2325)
    BT 1010 Intro to Computers AND Business Applications
    -or-
    CIS 1011 Computer Fundamentals
    ENGL 1010 Expository Composition
    -or-
    ENGL 1410 English Mechanics
    HESC 1050 Medical Terminology/NURP 1000, Intro. to Medical Terminology
    HFST 1020 Principles of Nutrition
    HFST 1500 Human Growth and Development
    MATH 1050 College Algebra
    -or-
    MATH 1011 Algebra
    NURP 1101 Drug Dosages and Calculations
    PSY 1010 Intro. to Psychology

    Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant.

    Acceptance into the Practical Nursing program will be by letter of notification within the first week of June.

    Applicants who are not admitted for the current year but wish to be considered for admission the following year should indicate this in a letter to the Director of the Allied Health department.

    Prospective students are not considered as applicants or re-applicants until such time as all admission procedures have been met.

    Licensed Practical Nurses may find career opportunities in such places as doctor's offices, hospitals, home health care facilities, and long term care facilities.

    A Certified Pharmacy Technician may find career opportunities in such places as private, corporate, or hospital pharmacies.

    Certified Nursing Assistant positions are available at hospitals, home health care centers, and long term care facilities.
