Course Description:
The Master of Arts program in Art Market: Principles and Practices gives students the knowledge and skills needed to excel in professional careers in art galleries and auction houses, and in such related fields as corporate curatorship, public art administration, and art market services.

You’ll study gallery design and management as well as exhibition planning and design. You’ll take classes in modern and contemporary art history, and learn specific computer applications for the art world. Faculty members specialize in such areas as gallery ownership and management, marketing, appraisal, and art law, and bring years of professional experience to the classroom. Frequent guest speakers and field trips offer vivid insights into the New York art market, along with valuable networking opportunities. You’ll also have the chance to travel to shows in France and Italy.

The curriculum integrates comprehensive studies with practical experience in creating an actual exhibition. In this unique feature of the program, students are the curators of an off-campus gallery exhibition, handling every aspect of the process, from selecting the artists and venue to mounting the show and designing the catalogue and website. You’ll gain additional industry experience in a required  internship , and complete a qualifying paper, and you’ll graduate prepared for a wide range of careers in the global art market.
